How to Choose POS Software in Pakistan
How to choose POS software in Pakistan: a checklist covering billing speed, khata, stock, supplier prices, hardware, local support and the price in writing.

Most shop owners in Pakistan buy POS software after a bad month: stock that does not match, a khata nobody trusts, or a cashier who takes five minutes per bill. That is the worst time to choose, because you grab the first demo you see. Use this checklist instead.
Billing speed at the counter
Ask the seller to make a 10-item bill in front of you. Barcode scan, search by item name, discount, and print. If it takes more than a minute, your queue will feel it on a busy evening. Keyboard shortcuts matter more than a pretty screen.
Khata and customer credit
Most Pakistani shops sell on credit. The software should show the customer's balance on the bill, record part payments, and print a clean statement you can send on WhatsApp. If credit sits in a separate notebook, you have not solved the real problem.
Stock you can trust
Check that every sale, purchase and return updates stock straight away. Look for low-stock alerts, stock audit, and transfers if you have a godown or second branch.
Supplier price changes
Prices in electrical, pharmacy and grocery change often. Ask how you update 500 prices at once. Good software imports a price list from Excel. Devsio POS can also read prices from a PDF or a photo of a supplier list.
Reports you will read
You need three numbers every evening: sales, cash in hand, and what customers owe you. If the reports are buried, nobody opens them.
Hardware that already works
Bring your printer and scanner model to the demo. Ask what happens if the printer fails mid-day.
Support from real people
Find out who picks up when something breaks on a Saturday night. A local team on WhatsApp is worth more than a long feature list.
Price in writing
Ask for the licence, installation, update and support terms in writing before you pay. If the seller avoids this, walk away.
