Most cash shortages are not theft. They are small mistakes nobody catches until the month ends: a refund given in cash and never entered, change given from the wrong drawer, an expense paid from the till. A 10-minute routine every evening stops this.

Step 1: Stop billing and print the day's summary

Pick a closing time. Print or open the day's sales, cash collected, card or bank payments, and receipts from credit customers.

Step 2: Count the cash

Count notes by denomination and write the total. Count with a second person if you can. Do not round off.

Step 3: Match the numbers

Opening cash plus cash sales plus cash received from customers, minus cash expenses and cash refunds, should equal what is in the drawer. If it does not, look at refunds and expenses first.

Step 4: Record expenses on the same day

Tea, fuel, loading charges. Enter them in the software before closing, not on a chit in the drawer.

Step 5: Note the difference and the reason

If you are short or over, write the amount and the reason. Patterns show up within a few weeks.

Step 6: Set tomorrow's opening cash

Leave a fixed float in the drawer for change and move the rest to the safe or bank.

Devsio POS shows the day's sales, cash and receipts in one place, so this routine takes minutes instead of an hour with a calculator. Book a demo on WhatsApp at +92 315 5073543.
